Change Boot Drive OS 8 to OS 9 ?

Installed the original OS 8 on a G3 Lombard laptop,
then installed OS 9 on top of it.

Ended up with 2 system folders.
OS 9 was running fine. Then I used the control panel app to set the boot folder to OS 8, and it booted into 8.

Problem is now I cant get back to 9 ?

The OS 8 boot selector only shows the main Mac HD not the folders.
Pressing Option has no effect?

Any idea what I need to do to boot back to OS 9?

Having multiple system folders on one HDD is not recommended.
