Right side of wrong
how can i do it in tiger? also, can i make it display how much space i have and how much is free?

sorry but i tried to search and couldn't find anything.

1) Get Info on the HD icon, select the icon in the window that opens and paste your new icon.

2) Finder (Desktop) -> View -> Show View Options -> Show Item Info

thanks, i finally figured it out.

how can i change an icon in the dock? or can i even do it?

Which icon in the Dock?

Try looking at CandyBar to change icons.. otherwise, if you change the icon of the folder or app it should update automatically on the Dock.

oh ok, thanks. i'll try it

Click the drive and Get Info (Cmd-I). To make it display permanently, go to View -> Show View Options and tunr on Show Item Info (this is all from memory as I don't currently have a Mac  so the steps might be slightly different).

thanks. but for some reason, when i go to view, i can't click show view options. but it can't be b/c of tiger, b/c i see plenty of people's desktop pics and they have it

well i figured it out. you basically do the same thing that you told me, except you don't go to info on the harddrive, but instead for the desktop.

Under finder click view > show view options (or just cmd + J) then check show item info
