I am changin my iBook G4s hard drive. I am referring to a well written guide published on http://www.faqintosh.com/risorse/en/guides/hw/ibook/g4hd/ . But I am stuck on a step.

For removing the front panel, there is screw hidden under a magnet. Somehow I can not remove that magnet. I have tried using L end keys, screw drivers, nose pliers and even a powerful magnet. This disk would not come out!!!!!

Please help!

Thanks in advance!

If you can't pry it out, you could try using a bit of super glue and glue something on the magnet so you can get a better grip on it.

Just use a pin or a needle. Don't be scared. It's got to come out unless some idiot did use superglue on the magnet... which I doubt.

P.S. whenever I take the time and sweat to update an iBook hard drive, I ALWAYS swap out the combo optical drive for a superdrive.

Makes you feel that much closer to having a powerbook...
