Reading all of the 3G news, it seems like Apple will take the income for the new iphone all at once, since there is not a revenue sharing plan for the monthly fee anymore.

On top of the already bad news that a shift to the 3G version would cost me at least $15-20 more/mo for the same service, I am wondering if I would have to pay for software upgrades for the new iphone. Has there been any mention of this and I missed it?

There is no change in accounting.

Apple will sell the iPhone for X dollars and divide it out across two years. This is the exact same way they do the Apple TV where there was never a revenue sharing plan and there are no charges for upgrades.

I think that att would give apple $200 for every device sold. I don't have anything to back this up. But I think that that is how it will work.
