Hi there, I just get a new mini mac, replacing my Power-pc based G5 (long overdue) and it looks like Apple has removed some functionality associated with the remote control.

I used to be able to hit the menu button on the remote, and it would take me to a new screen where I could access photos, music / iTunes, videos (incl. movie previews), and dvd control.

Is this functionality now gone? I loved it. It was great for controlling music from afar, and I used the dvd functions all the time. Now it seems like I can only use the dvd player application to play dvds, which works, but I have to be at the keyboard to exit a dvd.

Not sure if this is something I can enable somewhere, or just something that no longer exists. I also still use my old white remote, so maybe I just need to update it?

Yeah, Apple dropped Front Row, which definitely sucks (it basically lives on in Apple TV).

Check out Plex--it's Front Row plus other cool stuff. I think you'll be more than satisfied.
