Hello.

does it matter what the ID is of the device listed on a trade in, if it is the same model and good condition as testified?

I wonder if anyone has experienced a similar scenario? Location UK.

I have pre-ordered a iPhone 12 pro with 0% finance, and I have put up my iPhone 11 Pro as a trade in device .

My current iPhone 11 Pro had some small cracks in the glass back. I could see that the trade in value of an iPhone 11 pro with any cosmetic damage on the back is 0. So I thought I would use my AppleCare to get the back of the phone fixed.

When I went to my local Apple Store they simply replaced my IP11P with a new one. It appears they do not even bother to repair the glass back of a iPhone 11 Pro.

Sweet! I thought. Shiny new device. But then I realised on my pre-order I have a device listed for trade in that carries a different IMEI number.

I can’t see any option to change my iPhone 12 Pro pre-order apart from to cancel it. My eta is the 9th 😭 so I don’t want to cancel.

I have looked at the option to use Apple trade in separately, but all I will get is a gift card. Pretty useless when I want to use that cash value against the cost of the IP12.

Will they care if I send in a device with a different IMEI number?

thanks.

The first thing I would do is iMessage Apple support and inform them of the situation just to make sure that there’s no issues
