When IOS 16 was launched, they changed the way the wallpaper and lock screens could be, well, changed. Last time I tried to just change the lock screen, I had to also change my wallpaper -- which I didn't want to do.

Has this changed yet? Can you just change the lock screen image itself and leave the wallpaper alone? Thanks!

I’ve been able to make changes to just the lock screen or just my Home Screen wallpaper. In the Wallpaper setting I’m shown both side by side and I tap on whichever one I want to change. I frequently change up both of them but individually On my 14 PM.

It gives you the option to change both, but you can just change one, you don’t need to change both at the same time.

I interpreted the post as asking whether you could customize the Lock Screen without first creating a new one with a different wallpaper. If the question was whether you could change the Home Screen and Lock Screen wallpapers separately then these answers are correct.

Yeah, what I want to do is just change the lock screen ONLY. In other words, just change the lock screen image and leave the wallpaper alone. The wallpaper I have is that old milky way screen from the iPhone 6. I want to keep that.

I just want to change the lock screen image and that's it. You used to be able to do that.
