Hi so i have an iphone 3gs and the back of my phone is really dirty and got alot of marks onit, is there anyway i can change it as i have seen on amazon that they do a kit which give you the tools and another back cover. has anyone done this and is it hard to do.

Any help would be good

Unlike the iPhone 4, where the back cover is removable from the rest of the phone, the back cover of the 3GS is the "chassis" of the phone. You can't remove the back from the rest of the phone, you need to remove every single component of the phone, starting from the front, until you've stripped the back case of the phone. It's the hardest part of the phone to change. It is do-able, but it may not be a good idea if you don't have a fair amount of experience with miniature electronics, connectors and lots of tiny screws. The procedure is here.
 
You must gut the phone and the back cover is glued to the chrome bezel. Recommend you change the bezel anyway too.
