Could you possibly change the margins so they're not using the browser defaults? Both Safari and Chrome are only giving you a reading pane of the middle third of the screen on a 4k display. (it's less offensive at lower resolutions). Somewhat annoying to lose all of that real estate. :)

Whenever you're running that high of a res it's going to be an issue. You can always use the Zoom In command (cmd and +) until you find the setting you like. You can also use the Fluid HD viewing setting at the very bottom of the page, here's a direct link to it, https://www.macrumors.com/mr-toggleFluid.php?fluid=2)

I've attached some screenshots and you can see CNN and MSNBC have the same wide margins. The last screenshot is MacRumors with the Fluid HD setting on.
