I know a number of members who have changed their names.

And you need to actually read the FAQ section:

If you think that your case represents an exception to these cautions, use the Contact form to request a change of user name and explain the circumstances.

So my bad, use the Contact Form instead of PMing an admin.

No. They were not new and they had very high post counts.

Well it does say that you can contact them if you think you are a special case, but I would think they would rarely grant it though.

With my experience on other sites I thought they would rarely grant it. Was wrong to assume they did the same here. Carry on fine sir.

I've changed my username. (Very small change.)

If you want to change it slightly, I'm sure they would grant it, but if you want to change your name altogether I doubt they would allow it.

It couldn't hurt. I'd suggest mentioning that you PMed <insert admin name here> before you knew to use the Contact Form. The admins are pretty good at responding to PMs though.....perhaps wait it out an hour or so?

They change names. Experiences on other sites do not correlate with the experience here.

Well, okay. I guess you would be more knowledgable on the subject than I. I still doubt that they'll do it, though. But that's just my opinion. You might get it changed.

I got my username changed.

I think that the admins take care of it on a user to user basis.

Some got it changed (Firestar, anjinha), some didn't.

I think that the admins will let you change it once though.
