This is expensive but COOL.
Pick your own color back, front for your iPhone 3G.
Looks better than a skin.

note: also posted in accessories.

sucks u can't order a phone from there, sucks u have to send urs in.

why dont they paint the fronts anymore? they painted the fronts of the 1g iphone

You can have the front and back painted or have the whole thing chromed.

From what I've seen they did fantastic work on the first gen iPhone.

Two weeks is a long time to wait though.

Still...I'm tempted.

Yeah but the damn coloring is almost as much as the iphone itself...being with out a phone for 2 weeks is bad enough; the price is the dealbreaker. If you didn't have to be without for 2 weeks it might be worth it. Of course what does it mean for warranty or if you need to have your phone replaced? You are out $200?

Edit: It appears you send it to them and they replace it in warranty...though I doubt that.

The warranty issue is what kills this for me. I'll wait on Apple to release official color choice's. It's much easier to swap my phone out at the Apple store rather then mail it in. When/if it needs to be repaired or needs a new battery.

This is the same reason I hate jailbreaking... JB=Void Warranty

These guys have been around for a while and do excellent work.
I got my 4G iPod in 2005 painted black for $45, and they do replace apple's warranty, though they usually repair as opposed to giving you a new unit, and it does require sending the device in. If you want a different color, they're the guys to go to.

When I was without my iPhone for two days, I just popped my SIM card from my iPhone into some cheesy LG flip-phone and everything was fine.

I just bought a Motorola F3; man this is kind of phone that you get if you send your main in for anything.

as long as you do a restore of your iphone before sending it in to apple for any kind of repairs you'll be fine and they wouldn't have any idea you jail broke it

colorware does an amazing job. ive seen some great products come out with amazing colors. its great to think apple will sometime in the near future release color choices, but they wont have them as lush as colorware.

i dont think i can send mine in though...
for the dumbest reason too.
i wouldnt want them to replace the apple logo with their colorware logo...

is there a way i can get the frame in a different color only for $20? I want an all black iPhone 3G.

I like the original black on my iPhone already and dont want to change anything else.

It seems like you have to get the back changed for $150 which i dont want

iPhone 3G that looks like 1st-Gen iPhone

If they can make the the iPhone 3G look like my 1st generation iPhone, I would definitely do that. I've been holding off on the 3G because of this.

I don't like the black or white plastic backing. I know the plastic helps with signal reception, but I'd be willing to go for an aluminum option for the iPhone 3G.

The iPhone 3G may or may not become as ubiquitous as the Motorola Razr years ago, but I'd like it to look like my gorgeous 1st gen anyway.
