CarPlay Changed display again with 18,1

A couple of releases ago CarPlay when started would start playing music automatically for me (last thing I did with CarPlay) then before 18.1 it had the music on the main display but I had to hit the arrow to start music. With 18.1 the center area has all the apps so I have to select music (from center or left group) and then hit play. Why do they make it more difficult to go back to use CarPlay to what I was doing on it.
