Thanks for your help. I had to change the email address for my Apple ID and iTunes store account.

After changing it I went to the App Store with my device and could buy another app, no problem. However when I connected the device to my Mac and viewed my apps in iTunes, they were all gone. I could buy new apps with iTunes but not see my old apps.

I sign on to both with the same Apple ID/Email Address and password.

What should I do to get my apps from the device to the mac?

You can't merge two iTunes accounts. Sorry.

I don't think that's what he did. I think he simply changed his email address on the account, and this is his current issue, which is weird because I changed my email address recently on my account and did NOT encounter this issue.

I don't know how this could have happened because in my household we all share apps with each other, and we all have different Apple ID's.

But if you want to get your apps out of your phone, go to File> Transfer Purchases from .... (And don't forget to Authorize your computer with both of your Apple ID's).

I'm currently trying it this way, redownloading all the apps.

Worked, had to reauthorize the computer and it said "already authorized", then everything was fine, it seems.
