I tried to flash my dvd-r firmware to unlock the region code and part of the instructions to do this was to go into /system/library/core services/systemversion.plist and edit this file in word changing the 10.5.7 to 10.4.9 so the installer will run. I did this and the installer still didn't work, so I rebooted my computer and now it won't startup, I can't get to the login screen, it comes up as a blue screen and that's it.

A few things I tried to fix this:

1. Ran 'Archive & Install' from my Leopard disc, did a reinstall. Tried to restart comp, same thing.

2. Ran 'Disc Utility' from my Leopard disc, 'Repair Disc', restarted comp, same thing.

3. Ran 'Apple Hardware Test Powerbook Version 2.5' from the original Mac OS X disc that came with my Powerbook G4, did a quick hardware test and it detected there was an error at startup, and listed the following error message '***ERROR*CODE*** post/o/2048 SODIMMO/J25 LOWER'

4. Tried to run 'Time Machine' via the Leopard disc, 'Searching for backup' came up and just froze there, no luck.

5. Now I'm thinking of maybe trying to find the systemversion.plist through Terminal from my Leopard disc and possibly editing it? I typed in /volumes and there is a directory, but what else do I type to get to this file?

Is there other ways to get my comp started up and running again without losing all my data?

Please help...sorry I am a computer noob with all this stuff.
