Changes Size?

So I am new to Macs, as of last night and something is buggying me.

When using Safari and once on the desktop some how with the touchpad (MacBook Pro) the font and or icon sizes have changed. I am able to figure out how to change it back but I am not sure what I am pressing on the touchpad to cause this. Can someone let me know?

Two possibilities are:

1. Zooming by holding the Control key while two-finger swiping up and down will zoom the entire desktop.
2. Zooming in Safari:

3rd possibility is you’re inadvertently pinching or unpinching while scrolling.
