Got an iMac for my daughter, and we set up her account. Later I realized that I can't set parental controls on that account, and neither can I change the account type. Do I need to set up another account for her, migrate all her documents there and set parental control? Or is there an easier way to do this?

On another note, does parental control that is built into MAc OS work well to prevent porn etc?

What kind of account is it setup as? I setup one for my girlfriend and it says "Standard", in which I can enable parental controls (which would be hilarious!)

Is it set as an "Admin" or something?

You can change parental controls even on an Admin account. Check to see that the little lock in the lower left corner is unlocked. If locked, click it and enter the mac password to unlock it. Then, parental controls will be able to be checked.

I do not believe this is true.

What I would do is create a new account for yourself... and make it an administrator account. Then log in with the new admin account and change your daughters account to be a standard account. Then you can enable parental controls.

You are correct. I setup Parental Controls for my mother's iMac, and this is exactly what you need to do.
