Changing Apple Mail's background colour to default

I've set a rule to change the message list background colour, of certain emails, to a specific colour. I applied the rule and it's working fine.

Let's say I want to remove that rule and change the background colours back to the default. I tried removing the colour rule and applied, but the message list has kept the colours as per the rule.

Is there a way to return the colours to the default?
