Changing application subfolder icons

i did a search and couldn't find anything. does anyone know how i'd go about changing a sub folder icon in the applications folder. i take it these are protected because i can't do it the normal way. i've tried comand line sudo su, but it still didn't let me do it.

any ideas?

(the folder in question is XAMPP's htdocs if that helps )

turns out i needed to go old skool on that folder's ass.

needed to root and chmod 777 it...in case anyone needs to know this in future...plus i dont like unresolved threads!
