changing background picture

I'm just wondering if I can change the picture on my desktop or wall paper or whatever you call it. thank you.

Yeah of course you can. Either right click and click change wallpaper or look in system preference and click on wallpaper and screen saver.

I would show you with pictures but I am on an iPad at e moment.

Then on the left side there should be a list of folders. If you click the [+], you can add your own folders to the list.
