Hi!

Can someone tell me if I can change the battery of my MacBook 5,1 (uni-body, now MacBook Pro 13) to a new one from the new MBP13 that last longer?

Also, is there any app that tells me how long my laptop stays on battery power everytime I disconnect it and then tells me how much % of the battery it used?

Thanks in advance!

No, the new batteries are not removable and are integrated into the case, you cannot swap one in.

So no way I´m going to put a battery with more capacity.
So, where can I buy a new battery from? Only from Apple? How much is it? Do they ship the battery or I need to send my MacBook there?

The app I would like to have isnt coconut. That one I use already.
What I would like, is an app that is alwats running.
When I disconnect my MacBook from power, the app starts counting the time it is without power and then tells me how much % was used.
Is there something like that?
This way I would have a better idea of how long my battery is lasting me when I work disconnected from the power cable.

I wouldn't trust or recommend any battery that didn't come from Apple.

You can easily just make a note of the time when you unplug, then note the time when your battery is drained. No need for an app for that.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Sure, I could write down the time, but I just forget it.
Isnt there an app like that. Would be nice...

Another thing. Today I upgraded my MacBook 5,1 to 8GB RAM from Crucial. Pretty happy with it.
Now I want to buy the Western Digital HDD with 32MB cache and 500GB.
Anyone knows where I can get a good price for it in Europe with nice shipping costs (or even free)?

Thanks a lot for all the answers!
