changing default font on Pages basic template

Searched the forums - searched the Help in Pages -

Pages 08 basic document template opens with Helvetica. I want it to open with Times New Roman - tried all sorts of things that I thought would work and it still reverts back.

Guess I'm not as smart as a fifth grader -

Anyone know how to do this -

A workaround is to create a default template by setting up all the parameters you want, then saving it and having Pages open it as a default. You'll then be able to having it as Times New Roman and whatever else you like your document to have. Cheers.
