Got an iMac running 10.9.5, Safari 7.1. combo DSL modem/wireless router which is almost brand new.
I've been noticing my download speeds fall off the longer I leave the computer running. Also my Slingbox set up on my iPad works fine until this happens, and then starts buffering, and webpages load up slower.
Normal download speed runs around 3 Mbps, but as it slows down it drops to .56kps.
Now the part that's got me.
I reboot the computer and everything comes back on as it should.
Is this the sign of a ethernet card or internal wi-fi device going bad?

If there is no physical link between the computer or the my iPad (running Slingbox) how could this be connected to rebooting the computer?

Rebooting the modem/router when this occurs has no effect on it.
