Changing E-mail in Two Places

If I have my computer and iPod touch with me, and both are offline, what happens if I delete one message from my computer, and then another message from my iPod? Will it somehow know to delete both from the account? Or will it pick one and delete only that message from everything when they are reconnected to the internet. (This may be confusing...)
