Changing folder file icon adds a file to folder that can't be moved or deleted..

How can I get rid of this file? It's driving me nuts.. Before Mojave, this never happened. If I delete the file, it removes the icon. I tried hiding it using chflags hidden command, but this didn't work.

Any ideas?

that should be there, but it should be hidden by default. is this on your hard drive, or an external? are other hidden files showing? you can toggle that with command-shift-period, but be very careful; hidden files are there for a reason.
