OK most of my problems have been solved from changing the home name the wrong way and I'm waiting for my new Leopard discs to arrive. Until they do arrive I'd like to change the Home Name using the Apple steps or at least try to understand it.

Below is the link I found from Apple, I'm trying to change the name "pin-tsunhuang" to my name do I just type my name in where I have highlighted?

local@localhost-/
Users>pin-tsunhuang>Property>home>/users/pin-tsunhuang

I hope I wrote this so you can understand it.

Also is the Root Name the Home name?

Thanks Linda

No, you can't change it like that. Follow this guide from Apple to change your user name. Root is not the same as you home/user name.

Thanks Weaselboy but it says to enable root user with no instructions on how to do that. I'm using 10.4.11.
Linda

This should do it.
