changing icons

im trying to follow these instructions

but when i click get info on my image it shows the image for jpg instead of the image, so when i change icons i get the ulgy jpg icon! is there anyway to get the pic to show up in the corner like it did with the picture of the tiger?

That really doesnt matter. When on the desktop click apple + j, then click show preview or something like that. The picture will then be there. Tell me how that works.

Sounds to me like the icon you are trying to use is not a .icns file. Maybe I am just reading your problem wrong. Are you trying to apple an icon, but it doesn't show, instead a stock "image" icon appears?
