I want to Change my internal hard drive's icon from the picture of the Hard Drive to the Default Computer Icon (A picture of a macbook).

How do I do this? And is there a directory in OS X with all of the icons?

CMD-I give you the info pane for any item, and you can cut/copy/paste the icon. Just click to high-light it.

Do a google search on OS X icons, you should find quite a few free ones out there, I am sure one of them can look like your Mac.

The CMD-I didn't work. As soon as you do that, and paste it onto the next image, it gives you a folder icon with a red circle at the bottom...

Odd...

r u pasting correct icon image files? try this. Do cmd-i on a folder and copy that image, and then past it on the harddrive image, that should work. I change my icons every couple of months.

Yep... I'm doing it right. I just tried it with the calculator icon, and it worked fine (Calculator onto the HD image).

I guess the Macbook Icon is disabled for anything except for the main Computer image...

Yep... The upper left icon. It's the only one that will highlight.

Just so it's clear which icon I'm trying to use, if you go into finder, under devices, it's the Computer icon (Probably named to reflect your computer). I think it's typically disabled from the get-go, but if you go into finder preferences -> sidebar, it's your first choice.

When hitting get info you only get 2 drop down menus for it: General (describes your computer) and a Preview (of the icon). I use the icon in the upper left corner to copy....

Should just be copy & paste...

I just did it to confirm... works for me?

No... it's so weird. that icon does not work for me at all!

Any other icon appears fine. I guess it just wasn't meant to be?
