Hi guys, i want to see your opinions on iMac, as my friend has a iMac from fall 2009 and i have a latest iMac 2011, both of them are 27in. He told me to sell it for him, but I'm deciding should i sell mine or his as his config is higher then mine. Specs are below. Is there a major speed difference, in games and etc

His 27in iMac :Intel Core i7 2.8Ghz, 16GB RAM, 2TB Harddisk, Radeon HD 4850 Graphics Card

Mine 27in iMac: 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 8GB Ram, 1TB hard drive, AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB

I wouldn't call it a major difference but the 4850M will outperform the 6770M but not by too much. I'd say keep your iMac and sell it and get the new 2012 model, which hopefully will have a 7970M which is crazy powerful.

How is this possible? The 4850m is a 3 year card compared to the year old 6770m.

The 4850M is an under clocked 4850D and yields performance similar to the 4830D, the 6770M on the other is going to be a bit better than a 5770M which is itself similar performance wise to a desktop 5570.

At 2560x1440 neither are powerful enough though. The 6970M which is an under clocked 6850D is sufficient, but the 7970M will be perform similarly to the 7870D which trades blows with the GTX 580 -- that's a great card.
