Is there a way to change the number of recent places in dropdown file menus in Tahoe without using the Terminal? Previously it was System Settings > Control Center but that no longer appears to be a choice. Online search comes up with a Terminal command to change it but I'm wondering if there's some other way that I've missed. Thanks.

I don't even have recent places in the Apple menu. I only have Applications, Documents, and Servers. Are those what you mean? If so, the number can be changed in System Settings > Menu Bar. Try the search feature in System Settings. It's really good.
