I've read some of the older posts on getting just one number switched, but they seemed to be outdated and I wanted to see if anyone had any current information. I'll try to be brief.

  • My father is the account holder and works for the DoD/Special Forces in Miami, thus we all have 305 area code numbers.
  • I'm leaving for university in Northern Virginia and require a 703/571 area code, which is definitely in a different billing zone. AT&T refuses to comply with this simple request (we've been customers with Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint in the past and have had no problem in this situation.
  • If I don't get the local NoVA number, the university will likely charge me out of state tuition rates, about 3 to 4 times the in-state rate.
  • Does anyone have any ideas to fix this problem? We don't want to leave ATT, but this issue is absurd. We just want to change one number. I read something about switching to a business account, but I don't want to lose my unlimited data or have our rates go up.
  • Any ideas on how to fix this small problem? I don't want to switch to Verizon and get an LTE phone.

Thanks!
