I’m changing my phone number because I’ve lived in a new state for over a decade. AT&T warns that I will lose my voicemail.

is there any other issues I should be concerned about.?
Thanks 🙏🏻 in advance.

Device wise, no. They should request you to turn your phone off and back on. That will enable the new number amongst most device services

Of course you'd lose your old number's voicemail cuz you won't have that number anymore. But you'll get a new voicemail box with your new number. I've had lots of different phone numbers over the decades. No biggie. Start new.

I changed my phone number back in January and I still have access to all voicemails I've saved over the past few years. I have Verizon so maybe it's different with AT&T.

If your Apple ID account uses two-factor authentication you will need to update the trusted phone number. Apple support article: https://support.apple.com/HT204915 The same would also be true for other accounts that use your phone number for verification, like Gmail, your bank, etc.

Yes, 2FA can become a major hassle if not dealt with prior. I thought I had managed everything but I'm now locked out of my Nest account and the only way to regain access is.... you guessed it - a 2FA code sent to my old phone number. They told me I'd have to delete my account and establish a new one. No idea how to delete an account without being logged into it.
