Changing Songs on iPhone

There are some albums/comps I have on iTunes that I like to change when I upload it to my ipod/iphone. I've never had a problem doing it on my ipod but when I changed the album name/art on my iphone only the track numbers changed on my iphone and then none of them would play! Is it not possible to change them once they're on the phone?
 
I just deleted the songs re-added them and then changed the album title and artwork...still no go. Didn't change on the actual iPhone. So is this not possible on the iPhone like it is on the iPod?
