I thank you in advance for the help. i have a 2013 (newer) macbook pro. I'm running macoffice 2011 and the newest IOS.
I have a lot of word, excel, powerpoint and PDF files. Next to each file is a small icon. The icons are bland and hard to read. I have successfully changed these icon on each of the existing file to icons I can detect at a glance. But as I create new file, it saves them with the standard bland icon next to the file. Is there a way that after I create a new file, it will display the newer icon I have replaced my already saved files with.

Again thanks for the help.

I'd check the UI Customization forum on this site for info on how to set that up. You have to change the icon on the system level in order for the change to auto populate to new files of the same type, and there's plenty of advice on how to do it there.
