Changing the application dock

I am running OS 10.4.11 Tiger and i want to know how to change the look of my dock since the last version of TransparentDock, and all programs i can find like it, stop compatibility at v. 10.4.8 due to Safari 3.... I would like to know how to make my dock translucent black instead of white. Is there a way to manually do this, or does anyone know of a newer program that is compatible with my OS version?
