So, I got my mom to switch, but she has some problems, so I'm compiling some SOS documents to help her with difficult tasks (or at least in her mind). I want to put them all into a folder in her Dock, but I want it to be a different color, preferrably red, than the one already in it. Is there any way I can do this?

(BTW, this is Panther.)

Does changing the label colour not change the icon colour anymore?
It did in OS 9. Did OS X lose that ability?

Never tried it on Panther, but...

Select the folder and get info (Cmd+i). Now, select the new icon and copy it (Cmd+c). Finally, go over to the original folder's info, and select the icon in the upper-left corner. Now paste (Cmd+v).

You can get plenty of icons here: http://interfacelift.com/icons-mac/

Thank you! You wouldn't happen to know where the folder icon in the Library is, or the same one, only red, would you?

Can you change the original program icon's in the dock?
The new Photoshop CS3 icon is crap

If you change the app's icon it will (should*) change in the dock next time you launch the app.

* - In some cases you may need to "poof" the icon out of the dock and re-insert it for changes to take effect.

I thought it wasn't going to work but discovered that i needed to drag the original icon off the dock and then drag the new one onto the dock.
Thanks this is a very useful tip :)
