Changing viewing size in Apple Mail

Is there a way to change the size of the text when viewing email in the view pane? These old eyes of mine can't read the small font being used by default. Help seems to have articles addressing this, but when I try to view them, it tells me I have to be connected to the Internet...even though I am. Thanks in advance from the jungles of Papua New Guinea (maybe why the Internet connectivity error shows??)

Command with + to zoom in, Command with - to zoom out.
