Jetpack Channel crossing

A Swiss daredevil is aiming to become the first person to fly solo across the English Channel using a jetpack.

Yves Rossy, a former military pilot, will launch himself from a plane at more than 8,200ft (2,500m), and hopes to complete the 22m flight in 12 minutes, travelling at up to 125mph.

He made it :D

Bloody legend.

Typical.

Back-mounted jetpacks become a reality at juuust the same time as the insurance industry goes belly-up. Coincidence?

God has a sense of humour.. :p

the little boy in me says this is fantastic. imagine a day in the future when people sling on their jetpack with some wicked future fuel, jump up, take off and go visit their folks for the weekend or their honey.

you've seen radar pictures of the globe showing all the planes in the air...can you imagine the dots if people were flying by themselves :) that would be very cool.

Okay, that's cool, but I don't think it should really count as a record until he can do it by taking off standing on solid ground. Maybe he could just leap off the cliffs of Dover to get started...
