Hi folks,
I need some help understanding chapter markers & why they can't be read in Windows movie player?
Currently, I create chapter markers in FCX while editing client footage.
Then I output a self-contained .mov for each 'movie'.
In Compressor, I create an H.264 in .m4v format from those .mov files. The chapters are still retained perfectly.
For Windows clients, I use MPEG Streamclip to take the .mov files and convert to .avi. Yes, I know they're both containers, but some folks 'hate' Quicktime so they don't want it installed - .avi keeps everyone happy.
Most clients want these 'self editing archive files' as additional backup or so they can edit later on their own.
They also prefer to have the .m4vs since these files are smaller (than the .mov or .avi) so easier to transfer to a usb stick, smart phone or tablet etc...
But the chapters don't appear on the .m4vs nor the .avis in Windows?
Chapters will appear in .mp4 once I run the .movs in Handbrake. Although I'll have to tweak the quality settings because the base settings don't result in the same quality as from Compressor.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Keebler
