Charge iphone from a hub or other way?

I have a macbook and an iphone. Id really like to keep the phone synced as much as possible. But as I need to charge the phone every night, I use the charger/ dock, and syncing does not happen as much as it should.

Im wondering if I can charge the iphone with a powered hub, so when the hub is hooked to my computer it will sync, but it will also charge at night when my computer is not connected.

I just dont want to have to disconnect my cable/ dock just so I can sync it.

it's best to charge directly, hubs can interfere with sync / charge etc.

I had a powered hub and still ran into problems.
