Is there a way to have a MacBook charger and ethernet through one cable. For example if you look at the new Chromecast 4K the power adapter include an ethernet port. I think this would be a pretty clean solution. Would the Chromecast adapter have enough power or is there a different adapter that has enough power and is similar in design?

There are some that can do power, but none currently on the market that can do the 85W needed by the MBPs.

Don't worry! If you wait around a bit, people will explain to you that you don't actually need to run the computer.

Also next year people will probably ship stuff.

Certainly can.

Apples TB Display used to provide Power to change the connected laptop along with other data connections including Ethernet Port.

OWC USB-C Dock also provides Ethernet and Power through single cable to the laptop
