Charger for macbook pro rarely works anymore?

Hi all,
My charger rarely works for my mac anymore. The green light does not come on, and my computer does not recognize it. On the rare occasion it does work and the mac starts to charge, if the charger is disconnected the mac automatically shuts off. Anybody know what is going on?

They're poorly made and the wires inside them, particularly near the plug on the L shaped connectors are easily broken. Return it tbh.
