Hey folks, ive had my MBP for 13 months now and the last few weeks the charger has been very temperamental.

I have to wiggle the wire where it goes into the metal cylindrical tube that contains the connecting magnet for it to work. Even then it goes off after a while and need to re adjust.

Is this a common problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

JB

Can you see any exposed wires? If you can, even out of warranty it can qualify for a free replacement.

What style is it?

Yes, it is dated however there are still quite a few MBP's with it floating around. They stopped shipping shortly after the Mid-2010 models came out if I remember correctly. It helps to diagnose this issue as the older type are known to go bad, and were specifically recalled for that issue.

Its type A from looking at the pic.

No exposed wires that I can see.

Will more than likely drop into my local apple store and see what they say, thanks

When you wiggle the wire, can you actually twist in in any direction? This happened to me and they gave me a new charger - you can't really fix it.

It tends to happen if you don't pull on the magsafe - meaning you yank on the wire instead. (Same thing happened to my cousins).
