Charging an iPhone 3G using an iPod Nano 3G USB cable

Is it possible to charge an iPhone 3G via USB on a computer using an iPod Nano 3G's USB cable?

Yes. I charge my 2G iPod touch with a cord that came with my friends' 4G iPod.

Every single Apple 30Pin USB cable is the same, a cable from a 1st gen iPod nano with charge a touch, iPhone, Video classic, anything. I use my iPod Mini cable for my 3G iPhone. All the same bro

It's fine. I still use the old Firewire cable (with the wall adapter) that came with my U2 special edition iPod.
