Charging Apple Bluetooth Headset with Universal Dock

I have an Apple Bluetooth Headset and Apple Universal Dock and when I plug my headset charging cord into the back of the dock it won't charge or be recognized by the phone. If I plug the cable directly into the phone it works fine.

Am I alone has anyone else seen this?
