Some of the older Garmin watches had the ability to connect a charger while wearing. It came in handy with long distance running. The newer models can't do that. Heat was not an issue when charging on wrist.

You can't do that with the Apple Watch and I don't see Apple making that possible.
 
it almost sounds like they want to use the actual heat of the wrist to charge the watch.

someone once asked about either a motion based or solar charger on here.
but failed to grasp there is a VAST difference in the amount of power a regular watch uses vs an Apple Watch.

From what I found, and some basic (and possibly wrong math) it was something like 22 years of wrist motion to charge the watch batter a single time.
or for solar, you would need a panel twice the size of the watch (think of it as wearing 3 watches side by side) and that would need 8 hours of direct sun to fully charge the battery once.

it seems that thermoelectric is less efficient and possibly bulkier, so probably not feasible with current tech.
