I am planning on riding a big bike ride in one go UK :- Manchester to London about 230mi or so.
I was wondering if anybody had any experience of recording an activity on AW whilst charging from a portable usb battery pack? I was prepared to buy another fitness watch with this capability but if AW can do it then great.
I have been onto Apple about this and they said they asked the techs and none of them had any idea, so I said if they send me a Series 4 I would run a few tests for them lol!

I don’t have the link to the site in front of me but google something like Apple Watch triathlete. There is a guy who ran a triathlon using an Apple Watch. He used it to record the entire event but did charge it on the bike ride IIRC. if you can’t find the site, reply here and I’ll dig it up when I’m back at my computer.

How long will the ride take? There are strategies on how best to conserve battery.

1. Carry your iphone with you. That way, the iPhone's GPS is used instead of the AW's GPS.
2. Wear an external BT HR monitor, so that the AW's HR sensor stays off.
3. Charge up your AW right up until the start of the race.

Your iPhone is easily charged with an external battery and can stay at 100% for a long long time.

That's what I would do, but it's mostly dependent on how long your bike ride will be.

EDIT - I just did a google map direction for London to Manchester. It said 18 hours by bike. HOLY CRAP! You're probably gonna take a few breaks, I suspect. bring the puck and top off when you take a crap or eat a sandwich (but not both at the same time, hopefully).
