Hey, so I shut down my MacBook Air M1. However, it just boots itself back up after a few seconds automatically when the power cable is plugged in. The only way to keep it from being shut off is for it to not be connected with the USB-C power cable. For convenience, I'd obviously rather not have to remove the power cable every time I want the system shut down for good.

Is this a thing? Is there a setting I need to turn off? Or am I looking at a potential battery or power problem with my MBA M1?

As far as I'm aware, this is no longer an option. It was on intel because it used NVRAM -- no longer with M1.

how about sleep

The computer should not power on after shutting down.

If you plug in the cable after it has shut down, it will power back on.

But the cable was already plugged in before shutting down, the computer will not boot unless you press the power button.

This, but also touching any button or opening the lid will power it on, as well.
