This just started happening this morning and I was worried that charging was broken. When I put it on MagSafe, it doesn't give me the ring, sound and battery level. Same thing with plugging it in. The battery life does go up though. The battery was at 50% this morning which was also odd as it's been on the MagSafe charger overnight.

Battery health is at 89% but I noticed that it drained linearly overnight.

I did restart it a few times too.

Anyone else have this problem?

The battery is 3.5 years old and it's possible that it needs to be replaced.

It sounds like it wasn't sitting on the charger quite right overnight and still got a little trickle of Qi charge going. Might be a wonky magnet in the phone or it's case. But if the USB port is doing the same thing and it doesn't matter what cable or A/C adapter you use, then it's something with the phone itself. A battery at 89% should be fine, but something else could be failing. Worth taking it to the Apple store so they can run a diagnostic.

I had it on an 18 watt charger via Lightning and it would go up to 59% and then drop suddenly to 50%. So it's likely the battery or the circuit. I'm scheduling an Apple Store appointment. If it's the power circuitry, then I'll see if they can fix it and, if not, then it's an iPhone 16 Pro.

Normally I'd think that it's the battery but not indicating that it's charging when it is charging means it could be more.

What iOS version are you on?

Back from the Apple Store.

She put it on the MagSafe in the store and it chimed and lighted up green. She did the same with a cable. It looks like it doesn't do green if the power output or cable isn't high enough. I think that the MagSafe puck I have is limited to 7.5 watts. I'm charging it off a monitor USB-C port and I don't know how much power that delivers. If I put it on a high-power charger at home, it works. If it's on a low power cable or MagSafe, it doesn't show up green but I think that it's charging.

I had the chance to carry around my backup iPhone which is a 7 Plus. The battery on that was last changed in 2019. The battery drains pretty on it as well so I need to schedule another appointment to replace the battery on that one too. Battery is only $49.99 on the 7 Plus.

Thanks for your help and I'm good to go for another three years.
