I’m from the US. What do I need to safely charge all of my iOS devices in Spain? I will to charge my phone, iPad, Apple Watch and my kids devices too.

Get one of those international plug/adapters at the airport and you’re good to go. They’re quite expensive there though, check CVS/Target first.

Fun fact: many hotels nowadays have USB(-A) ports right beside the regular plugs. And you’ll surely find USB ports on the TV...

fun fact 2: I was in the UK some time ago and the hotel room had 4 USB-A ports and all the power plugs were international (meaning I could charge my iPhone with my US plug and that I never got to use the crazy expensive adapterI had bought)

You should just need an adaptor to fit the wall outlets over there. Apple chargers are designed to accept a wide range of frequency and voltage inputs. So, you don’t need a transformer like you would if you were running a hair dryer. You can buy plug adaptors for cheap on amazon. A quick google search will tell you the right type to get. Don’t bother with Apple’s official international kit. It’s overpriced.

Thanks all! I have this charging stations and a few others like it...so I was thinking of maybe just figuring out what this needs but maybe that would be harder. There also seem to be Plugs just for usb connections for Spain and maybe that would work. I’m going to keep researching what you all have posted. Thanks!

Just a UK Charger.

I bought an iPhone 11 Pro which was imported from the US and I live in Dubai where we use UK Chargers so I simply bought a UK Charger (18W) and I was good to go

Whatever you do never plug your iPhone into a USB port directly with a cable. USB ports could be easily tampered with to steal the data from connected devices. And having physical access to a device makes things easy for an attacker. Only plug into the wall power outlet using the adapter that came with the iPhone and your international adapter can go with it. This ensures both safety and security.

What if I get a plug that has USB ports.... that would be safe right?

Yes, you should be fine. I purchased a international plug for my wife and I when we visited Paris/Italy last year. It charged our iOS devices just fine throughout our trip (and we stayed at several different hotels).

Universal International Adaptor

The link above is what I purchased prior to our trip. Again, we had no issues at all.

That’s totally fine. The only problem is with using the USB ports on the wall itself like in the image below.

iPhones will not connect to unauthorized USB devices

Exactly! You are required to authorize by entering your passcode every time you connect to an unknown source. The setting is disabled by default for your safety. It doesn’t apply to power source.

Just a UK Charger.

I bought an iPhone 11 Pro which was imported from the US and I live in Dubai where we use UK Chargers so I simply bought a UK Charger (18W) and I was good to go

Uk charger won't work in spain; they use a different pin layout. Uk uses the Type G layout, spain uses the type C and F.

I've used an adapter that has in-built USB charging ports for many years across multiple voltage and frequencies (ie USA uses 110V, 60Hz, Saudi uses 220V, 60Hz, UK uses 230V, 50Hz etc). No issues to report. My adapter is a tad old now, and only changers at the slower 1A rate. Might have to buy a new one soon that can change at a faster rate (ie 2.1A per port).

These adapters work great, and allow you to run other higher power drawing devices (ie a laptop) alongside charging your phone (not that the girlfriend melted a cheap adapter by plugging her hairdryer into it, so there is a limit to how much power an adapter can safely provide. So long as you're not using a hairdryer/kettle or other high power consuming device, most decent adapters out there should be fine).

Just plug the adapter into a power socket and away you go!

Haven't used this one, but it has good reviews on Amazon, so I'm assuming it works fine:

Just a heads up, the PowerStrip pad you posted is still for american outlets. You'll need an adapter for connection to european power outlets. Something like this.

You should be able to get it for less than 1 USD on any electric hardware store.

There are travel adapters on Amazon that have built-in USB ports, such as: this
It's more expensive than a travel plug but it's pretty convenient.

The only problem with some of the "universal" adapters is that they don't do well with items plugged into them. Especially in Spain, The UK type G holds strong in outlets, the Type C of Spain (2 pins) often falls out if a few items are plugged into the adapter. Too bulky.

I personally use this one, I'm happy with it

Amazon Power adapter w/Battery

A far less expensive option is this one, plenty of ports and very inexpensive, Works well
