Hey guys I got an iPhone 4S and I'm wondering.. If I plug my iPhone in the iMac (mid 2011) when it's in sleep mode will it still charge it?

I've heard people say it may drain the battery, and will not charge it, but when I do plug it in, it has the little bolt that shows it's charging, and when it's full charge even if I play games with the iPhone the battery stays at 100%. This is when my iPhone was already plugged in when i put the Mac in sleep mode.. However when I plug the iPhone in and the iMac is already in sleep mode, the iMac wakes up?

Sorry if my english is bad it's my 2nd language :p.

Thanks.

I remember reading something that the mid 2007 and newer iMacs can charge a USB device when they are sleeping.

Put the computer to sleep after plugging in the iPhone, but unplugging the phone will wake up the PC.

Slightly different for me as have a macbook pro but if I plug my iPhone in when the macbook is on then close the lid for sleep then it continues to charge it

Plugging it in when its already in sleep mode won't start charging it, though obviously won't wake it either as lid is closed.

Glad it does it. Remember I had a feature on a Asus mobo to charge devices via USB when off but when I tried it didn't work. After a google turns out there were very few devices it would work with..

Okay thanks for info :)

At work I have an older pre2010 MacBook Pro. When it goes to sleep, the USB ports do as well. So no charging on this unit.

I'm good I don't have a MacBook :)

My non-uMBP charged my phone while it was asleep. If you plug in the device while the MBP is open it should charge the device. Worked on my non-uMBP and works on my uMBP now. Does not matter if the MBP is connected to power or not.
